The hemp industry is constantly evolving as demand grows for pure, high-quality CBD products. At Black Sage Organics, we consider it a privilege to offer CBD treatments and supplements that you can trust, and our knowledge of the industry is foundational to our ability to meet your needs. Years of experience have shown us that there are many misunderstandings about hemp, and we’re on a mission to educate and empower people who need its benefits.
Although it is a form of cannabis, hemp doesn’t cause psychoactive effects. This is because it cannot contain more than 0.3 percent THC to be legally considered hemp under the 2018 Farm Bill. Any higher, and it is considered marijuana, a federally controlled, Schedule 1 substance. However, it hasn’t been legally differentiated from THC-rich cannabis plants for decades. In fact, 1937 saw all forms of cannabis made informally illegal under the Marijuana Tax Act and formally made illegal in 1970 under the Controlled Substance Act.
Today, in the United States, hemp is legal with some restrictions. The 2018 Farm Bill legalizes the cultivation and production of hemp across state lines, allowing hemp to be sold, transported, and possessed as long as the products adhere to legal parameters. Any cannabis plant that contains more than 0.3 percent of THC isn’t protected under the law.
Black Sage Organics never compromises when it comes to the quality of the ingredients in our products. That means we partner with reliable, Farm Bill compliant agriculturalists in Colorado to ensure we get hemp that’s rich in CBD and nothing else.
